Based in local newsrooms across the nation’s largest watershed, the new cohort will work alongside the award-winning journalism collaborative’s founding members to produce regional environmental coverage that is free for any news outlet to republish.
These outlets will grow the Ag & Water Desk's reach across the nation's largest watershed alongside the award-winning journalism collaborative’s founding partners. Journalists can apply now for 11 new reporting positions.

The $2.47 million grant extends the Walton Family Foundation's support of the Desk for three more years and represents a more than $1 million increase over the local reporting network's founding grant in 2021.
The Ag & Water Desk is seeking a part-time, remote data journalist to support our coverage of water, agriculture, climate and environmental issues inside the Mississippi River basin.
Ropeik brings a decade of experience covering the environment for public radio stations and regional collaboratives across the country.
Wendland, a veteran environmental journalist, will manage journalist contributions and the distribution of content across the region.
